Yoga Sutras Workshops & Teacher Trainings

Not simply something to learn. Something to live.

An experiential way into the Yoga Sutras, for studios, communities and yoga teacher training programs.

Why experience the Sutras

Understanding the words and experiencing what they point toward are two very different things.

The Yoga Sutras have been part of my practice for almost twenty years. They are ancient teachings about the mind, awareness, suffering, presence and what becomes possible when we begin to see beyond the constant movement of our thoughts.

They aren’t simply something to study. They offer a way of understanding ourselves, meeting our lives with greater awareness and recognizing what is already here beneath the activity of the mind.

The approach

Learn. Meditate. Embody.

Each gathering moves slowly from understanding to experience, one sutra at a time.

Discussion

Meet each sutra through its Sanskrit, its literal meaning and its teaching in clear, accessible language, and explore it together.

Reflection

Make space for your own insights and reflections as the teachings begin to meet your lived experience.

Meditation

Move from understanding the teaching to experiencing what it points toward through guided meditation.

Practical application

Bring the teaching into your life and begin to recognize it in your thoughts, relationships, choices and everyday experience.

Offerings

Two ways to bring this work in.

In development

Workshops for studios & communities

An experiential way into the Yoga Sutras for students who want yoga beyond the poses, whether they already know the Sutras or are discovering them for the first time.

These offerings are being developed now. If you’d like to bring this work to your studio or training, I’d love to hear from you and shape it together.

Host a Workshop

The Yoga Sutras in teacher trainings

A way for trainees to move from studying the words to experiencing what they point toward, so they can live the teachings and share them with presence.

These offerings are being developed now. If you’d like to bring this work to your studio or training, I’d love to hear from you and shape it together.

How the app complements the experience

Yoga Sutras: Presence Revealed

Each sutra begins with the original teaching, then slowly unfolds through clear language, reflection, lived experience and meditation.

The app gives participants a way to keep practicing between gatherings: Sanskrit and pronunciation, the teaching simplified, a guided meditation and space to journal, one sutra at a time.
